Back to normal – sort of

My eye is slowly coming back to the new normal. I worked on a project wiring a house for data and tv out at Lake James. It was sort of fun and we did it the rightway by redoing the shlock job a previous installer performed. All this required removing some of the skirting and pulling the cables to the areas we wanted to install the new features. Larry Boyd and I worked together most of the afternoon and there is still a lot to be done. Larry is an old classmate from AHS.

The amatuer radio shack is proceeding at a snails pace but at least all the materials have been purchased and are sitting there waiting for Larry and Myself to finish our Lake James job. Then I can finish wiring and have the area sprayed with a thin layer of foam. After that comes the back wall studding and more fiberglass insulation and finally the bead and peg board in all brilliant white. When the shack is done all the amatuer radio and electronics stuff will be moved out to the new area. This will make SAM very happy and me too. I am debating moving some of the computer equipment out there too.

Right now I am listening to IRLP Reflector 9050 but nothing is happening. An hour or so ago I started organizing the stuff to load into the truck for the short trip. I also found my amber sun glasses that have been missing for a day or so. Yea – it’s a winning day! Moore later.

Stitches out = immediate relief and normal vision

Wow, what a relief it is. That is exactly how I felt when the stitches came out of my eyeball. Almost that quick my vision returned to normal and the irritation went away. Life is good again and I can use the computer and do normal things I did a week ago. I do not want to do that for a while. It makes you understand how fragile life is and your well being can go in an instant so you had better be prepared and sure of your salvation.

Eye Surgery

I had eye surgery today on my left eye – which has always been my good eye – and now cannot see anything meaningful out of it. My right eye had cataract surgery back in 2008 and was ok for a while but has gradually become milky again. The solution to that is yet another laser treatment to essentially punch holes in the milky membrane. I have put this off due to the probability of creating more floaters than I already have. Since it is very difficult to write this with my eye hurting and very blurry I will make it short and rest my eyes. It will be a long night and next few days.

Lots of volunteer work

I have been doing a lot of technical work for Angola Assembly of God keeping the network and computers operational. Most of the staff have multiple computers and at least one Windows 7 machine for each one. This is all done on the slimmest of budgets and free labor – of course. I am glad to do this but it has been almost a full time job for the last month. Couple that with the Gideon commitments and it is a full time work.

Sailing our local lake has taken back seat to the work I am doing. I need to get the boat out on the water and perhaps it will be possible to do this tomorrow if the winds are around 5-10 mph. It looks like Grandpa Lyons old house has been sold. There are promises that it will be restored to its former glory and I hope that includes the rose arbor as well. The family that bought it is well known in the community. Next week will be a busy one.

I talked with the artist that is going to do the boat name and hailing port painting for the boat name Inspiration II. He is to send me pictures of some of his work. Now the question is whether to pain name on aft, port/starboard side or all of it on the stern. This sort of sums up the day except that I mowed the whole lower yard and was finished by noon. There were lots of little things I did to fill the time and I found that I am missing my 1/4″ drive 7mm socket. I wonder where it went? BFN
